Developments and progress
The last month has been an exciting yet challenging time for Bhubesi Pride’s TransAfrique 2011 project.
There’s been a series of hugely exciting developments both ‘on and off the field’, with support from Princes William and Harry, a return visit to the European Parliament presenting to the ACP EU JPA, a busy team training week, a sponsorship deal with Errea in Italy confirmed, fundraising events carried out [such as the Three Peaks Challenge in the UK] and high-profile press coverage in London’s Square Mile Magazine.
A recent setback regarding a key investor not delivering an agreed share of required project funds has delayed progress. BUT, staying strong, Bhubesi Pride is getting things back on track. Working with Pete Rhodes [All for Good] on sponsorship, the PRIDE is now talking to a number of brilliant companies who see the huge value of Bhubesi Pride’s project (both in 2011 and regarding future projects), committed to ensuring we can successfully deliver our objectives next year.

Delivered through the charity United Through Sport and working with 15 schools in 10 African countries, our coaching team aims to use sport (RUGBY) as the platform for long-term social, educational and community development in Africa.
The objective is to use rugby as the catalyst for engagement and change, to embed and inspire future community development. We will be uniting African youngsters through the sport (focusing on health and social education), empowering and training local coaches (male and female) and establishing long-term LINKS with schools in the UK. Bhubesi Pride has already formed partnerships with eight fantastic British schools and assisted with all eight forming a link with a school in Africa.
Our objectives plan to support and contribute to five of the UN’s eight Millennium Development Goals:
MDG 2: Achieve universal education
MDG 3: Promote Gender equality and Empower Women
MDG 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
MDG 7: Ensure environmental sustainability
MDG 8: Develop a global partnership for development
