Pride Member Makes Local News
Kiko Matthews, team member and Education programme coordinator for the ‘Pride’, recently featured in a news piece by her local paper, The Camden New Journal. The article focuses on Kiko’s battle with diabetes and how a near-death experience led to her decision to join the Pride.
As part of her role with Bhubesi Pride, Kiko has been developing the health and social education programme the team will be delivering to all the schools on its visit to Africa. Using her experience as a biology teacher as well as reading and researching documents from charities and non-governmental organisations, Kiko has put together lesson plans aimed to assess health issues and social skills, with particular attention being paid to linking the work with the core values of rugby – solidarity, respect, discipline, passion and integrity.
