Expedition Team safety and JPR Williams visit
Friday, 06.Jan.2012
On the penultimate day of the training week, Bhubesi Pride’s team was visited first [in the day] by Jon Parry from Training Expertise and for dinner with JPR Williams and his wife, Priscilla.
Jon worked with the team, helping each member to become aware of different situations which could be potentially hazardous during the expedition. The activities gave the team an insight into proper care in remote locations, where sufficient medical assistance is sometimes not available. By providing the team with the necessary knowledge to be prepared in the worst case scenarios assisted each member to confirm the vital importance of taking sensible precautions at every stage.
Training Expertise provided the training for the day and Equip Me has sponsored the team with an invaluable and comprehensive Vehicle Medical Kit.

In the evening, the team was joined by legendary Welsh International and British Lions full-back, JPR Williams, and his wife, Prescilla. The team had the opportunity to talk through the various elements of this year’s mission, where rugby and its values are so key to the delivery of the programme.
“As with all things, the preparation is very important, you’ve prepared very well for it. It’s quite exciting really, this all coming to fruition. It’s great to be [also] involved with Bill’s [McLaren's] Foundation. He was a good friend of all of us and there will never be a commentator like him. We wish you all the best and our thoughts will be with you and let’s hope we can help the children of Africa to take on what is a great game of rugby union.”
