Final prep before expedition starts

Sunday, 08.Jan.2012

On its final day of team training, the Pride was joined by Chris Marrow, who has spent many years mentoring and employing local people whilst living in Mozambique and Malawi. Chris spent time presenting to the team about sustainability and development in Africa, including valuable insight on what to expect whilst there, including both the highs and the lows.

The afternoon was then devoted to the packing of bags, ensuring this was done as efficiently as possible and only necessary equipment was being taking on the two Land Rovers. The team also finalised and packed all the rugby kit they will be taking to Africa with them, ready for tomorrow’s early departure.

Day 1 of the expedition began with the Pride loading their luggage and all the equipment into both vehicles, before setting off on the start of their long journey. The Pride made a stop at Rowanfield Junior School in Cheltenham, where they were greeted by staff and pupils who were displaying some fantastic “good luck” banners. The team then spent some time answering the pupils’ questions, showing them around both vehicles and passing a rugby ball around.

Bhubesi Pride will now be heading across Europe, stopping off tomorrow at the Gateway Academy in Essex, before getting the ferry into France.
